Israelite Prophets became important and were listened to mostly in times of fear and war. Let's look at Isaiah, Amos and Hosea. Each prophet promoted and projected their one God based on their personal life-experience. Each jealously condemned the Israelite worship of other gods. Isaiah, over 50 years, was influential during the reigns of at least 4 Israelite / Judah kings. He invisioned and projected God as a King. Amos was a shepherd who described empathy with the poor. Hosea, who had marriage problems, described God as a jilted and jealous husband - who still desired his wife, Israel.
